Description

Poet, novelist, playwright, and activist. Co-editor of 'Come Out', the world's fist gay liberation newspaper, in the late 1960s. Started the Gay Men's Health Project Clinic (operating today as New York’s Callen-Lourde Community Health Centre). Wrote the play 'Night Chills' about AIDS. Has published 18 books of fiction, non-fiction (including 'How to Survive Your Own Gay Life', 'The Manly Art of Seduction'), poetry, and short stories. Is a founding coordinator of the New York Rainbow Book Fair, the largest LGBTQ book event in the country.
