Description

Independent Senator since 2011, being the first open lesbian member. Member, Irish Human Rights Commission. Senator. Former CEO, National Women's Council of Ireland. Former CEO of the National Women's Council of Ireland. Co-founder of An Cosán, Ireland's largest community education organization. Notable for her law case to have her same-sex marriage, which occurred in Canada, to be recognized in Ireland - a case which failed in the Ireland's High Court.
