Description

Dean of Students at Rutgers University, 2009-2013. Feminist and activist. Author of four books of poetry: 'Narratives: Poems In The Tradition Of Black Women' (1982), 'Living As A Lesbian' (1986), 'Humid Pitch' (1989), and 'Experimental Love' (1993). Contributor of commentary to numerous publications. Founding Director of Diverse Community Affairs and Lesbian/Gay Concerns, which became the Office of Social Justice Education and LBT Communities in 2004. Taught courses on contemporary black women's writing, the black freedom movement, and queer black writers in the age of AIDS.
