Olympic Bronze

Description

Sculptor, who won Olympic Bronze in sculpting in Amsterdam (1928) in the art competition. Though married, considered the first LGBTQ person to win an Olympic medal. Member of the Prussian Academy of Arts from 1929 until expelled by the Nazis. Professor, Berlin Art Academy. Awarded the Pour le mérite order (Knight of the Class of Peace) and the Grand Federal Service Cross.
