Fashion photographer and fashion journalist for The New York Times, and author of the columns 'On The Street' and 'Evening Hours'. Career began with Women's Wear Daily, followed by The Chicago Tribune. Named Outstanding Photographer of the Year by the Council of Fashion Designers of America (1983), and awarded the Officier de l'ordre des Arts et des Lettres (2008). Named a "living landmark" by the New York Landmarks Conservancy (2009) and the Carnegie Medal of Excellence (2012).
