Film producer and director, and screenwriter. Notable films include the documentaries 'The Times of Harvey Milk' (Academy Award - 1984) and 'Common Thread - Stories From the Quilt' (Academy Award - 1989). Co-Founder (with Jeffrey Friedman, Telling Pictures. Professor of Film, California College of the Arts. Has produced a number of documentaries on the subject of AIDS. Member, Board of Governors, Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences.
