Description
Second ruler of the Khalji dynasty that ruled the Delhi Sultanate in the Indian subcontinent. Obtained the governorship of Kara in 1291 after suppressing a revolt against his predecessor Jalaluddin, and the governorship of Awadh in 1296 after a profitable raid on Bhilsa. In 1296, he then raided Devagiri before moving on to Delhi and deposing Jalaluddin. He then went on to successfully defeat the Mongol and Hindu dynasties. Though married, he is noted for this affairs with beardless men. His most notable male relationship was with Malik Kafus, his slave whom is purchased out of interest towards him and who he groomed to be his sexual protegee and chief advisor. Portrayed in the 2018 film 'Padmaavat'. Bisexual.
