Former professional auto racer, journalist. Sex change operation two years before death, becoming Pip. Author of his family memoirs he wrote jointly with his brother, Richard, Desirelines, 'An Unusual Family Memoir'. Hosted 'Torque', a long-running television show for ABC TV. Though married, he confessed to his passion for cross-dressing, and in the last stages of his life he lived as a woman. Brother is theatre and opera director Richard Wherrett.
