Description

Educator and essayist on the subjects of race, class, gender and sexual theory. Former Professor of Writing and Women’s Studies at Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York. Helped to found the school's LGBTQ studies program. Author of the books 'Crimes Against Nature' (1990, a book where she describes losing custody of her children because of her lesbianism), 'Rebellion: Essays 1980-1991' (1991), 'Magnified' (2021), among others. Has published eight books of poetry, The Sound of One Fork, We Say We Love Each Other, Crime Against Nature, Walking Back Up Depot Street, The Money Machine, The Dirt She Ate: Selected and New Poems, Inside the Money Machine, and Magnified. Contributing editor to Workers World newspaper.
