Democratic Party member of the U.S. House of Representatives since 2022 for the State of Vermont. Vermont's first woman and first LGBTQ representative in Congrss.
Democratic Party Senator in the State of Vermont legislature from 2015 to 2022. Senate Majority Leader since 2017, and was also appointed Chair of the Senate Sexual Harassment Prevention Panel. In 2020 she was elected president pro tempore, beig the first woman and first member of the LGBTQ+ community to hold that position.
