Description

Nobel prize winner, 1903. Wrote many pieces with a theme of male friendship, and befriended and supported homosexual men, though he was considered heterosexual. Wrote the words to the Norwegian National Anthem. Was a strong nationalist and very political throughout his lifetime. Was also known as a pioneer in his home country in the fight for the decriminalization of gay relationships.
