Description
President of the United Belize Advocacy Movement, who successfully fought the sodomy and anti-buggery laws of Belize, often facing physical violence in the process. Prior to this success, same sex sexual activity is illegal with criminal punishment in Belize whether in public or private, as well as sodomy. Co-founded (2006) Belize’s only LGBT-led campaign group, the United Belize Advocacy Movement (UNIBAM) and later President. Awarded the David Kato Vision and Voice award (2016).
