Description

ABC News Foreign Correspondent. Former War reporter for BBC, specializing in reporting from Syria and the Middle East since 2012. When in the UK, works as a general news reporter for the Victoria Derbyshire show on BBC2 and BBC News. Mental health activist. Nominated for the Royal Television Society 2016 Young Talent of the Year award. Produced a documentary on the persecution of the LGBTQ community in Chechnya (2019). Received a News Emmys for his coverage of the war in Ukraine and the climate crisis in India, a David Bloom award, and a Deadline Club award from the Society of Professional Journalists for his work in Chechnya. Author of his memoir 'The Inherited Mind' (2024) in which he advocates for mental health by telling the story of his father’s schizophrenia and eventual suicide.
