Description
Soccer player, as a member of a large number of English and Scottish Premier League teams (among them being Norwich City, Nottingham Forest, and Southampton) and North American professional teams (including Los Angeles, Edmonton, and Toronto) between 1978 and 1997. First professional football player to come out when he revealed he was gay in a 1990 press interview. Committed suicide after it was revealed he was having a relationship with a teenage boy, who in turn accused him of sexual assault. Elected into the UK's National Football Museum's Hall of Fame (2020).
