Description

Co-founder (with Patrisse Cullors) of Black Lives Matter, an organization which acts against discrimination and violence, police brutality, and racism. Contributor to numerous magazines and newspapers. Executive Director of the National Domestic Workers Alliance, an organization which fights for the rights of domestic workers. Helped to form Supermajority, a group that seeks to educate and galvanize women leading up to the 2020 election. In 2018, Garza launched the Black Futures Lab to elucidate the needs of black communities and build political power. Recipient of honours given by the Harvey Milk Democratic Club with the Bayard Rustin Community Activist Award for her work fighting racism and gentrification in San Francisco.
