Description

Stage and film actor and singer. Noted for performing the role of Mark Cohen in the hit Broadway show 'Rent' and its subsequent film version (2005), Charlie Brown in 'You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown', and the play 'If/Then'. Appeared in the television series 'Star Trek: Discovery' (2016) playing the role of Lieutenant Commander Paul Stamets as the first openly-gay character. He appears in the movies 'Dazed and Confused' (1993), 'A Beautiful Mind' (2001), and 'Six Degrees of Separation' (1993), among others. Author of his memoir about Rent and his relationship with his mother 'Without You: A Memoir of Love, Loss, and the Musical Rent' (2006) which he developed into a one-man stage show. In 2017, he went public with accusations against Kevin Spacey about his alleged sexual molestation by the fellow actor.
