Novelist, most of which are autobiographical. Notable for 'A Single Man', which was made into an Oscar-nominated film directed by Tom Ford. Won several awards for his television production of 'Frankenstein:The True Story' (1973), which he worked on with his life partner, painter Dan Bachardy. Championed gay rights.
