Novelist, short story writer, and bookshop owner. Books include 'Lady Into Fox' (1922, winner of the James Tait Black Memorial Prize) and 'Aspects of Love' (1955, made into a musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber). Author of his memoir 'The Golden Echo' (1953). Founder of the Nonesuch Press. Had an affair with Duncan Grant and Francis Birrell. Bisexual.
