Author of several books, including her short story collection 'Love, In Theory' (2011). Editor of the anthology 'Tasting Life Twice: Literary Lesbian Fiction by New American Writers' (Lambda Literary Award). Her biographical book on James Miranda Barry titled 'The Cape Doctor' (2019), generated controversy around the proper use of pronouns related to the central character. Her work has appeared in The Paris Review, The New York Times, Salon, among other venues. Also known as EJ Levy and E. J. Levy.
