Description

Film producer, won Academy Award for his 1970 movie 'Patton' the biography of General George S. Patton. From 1943 to 1945, served as the secretary of the General Staff of the United States Department of War. For his service in World War II, awarded the Distinguished Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, and was made an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. He left the Army with the rank of Brigadier General. Life partner was journalist Rupert Allan.
