Film and television actor, friend of Rock Hudson who came out publicly after the latters' death in 1986. In 1955, he won a Golden Globe Award for "Most Promising Newcomer. Forced out of Hollywood due to his homosexuality, but became a major hit in German film. Author of several homoerotic books.
