Description

Former Professor of Islamic Studies & Cultural Studies at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, and Provost at Starr King School for the Ministry, the Unitarian Universalist seminary in Berkeley, California (2009-2016). Former Professor, History of Religions and Sociology of Religion, at Howard University School of Divinity in Washington, D.C. Prior to that he was a Senior Researcher at Institut des Sciences Bibliques, University of Lausanne, Switzerland. Learned in Islam and Sufism, in Judaism and Jewish mysticism, in Christianity and Buddhism. Writer on the decolonization of queer theory. Appointed in 2011 to the Editorial Board of the Abhishiktananda Desk for Interreligious Dialogue (Delhi Brotherhood Society) as editor of the books of Swami Abhishiktananda. Also known as Ibrahim Baba, with academic work under the name Elias Farajaje-Jones. Bisexual.
