Noted for his work in developing the FBI into a professional organization, but who was ruthless in his initiatives to uncover espionage and so-called deviates. Personal life is shrouded in secrecy, but it is generally known he had homosexual relationships. Subject of a 2011 film 'J. Edgar' written by Dustin Lance Black. Full name is John Edgar Hoover.
