Description

The Anglican Dean of St Albans who recently missed out by one vote to be the new Bishop of Exeter - had he been elected, he would have been the first gay bishop in the Anglican church. Back in January 2012, Dr John threatened to sue the Church of England unless it promoted him to bishop. Was earlier forced to give up his appointment as Bishop of Reading in 2003 due to his sexuality and was blocked from the post Bishop of Southwark in 2010. Supporter of same-sex marriage rights. Author of several religious doctrine books, many of which pertain to issues of homosexuality. Partner is Reverand Grant Holmes.
