Description

Astrophysicist at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) in Sydney, Australia since 2009. Focus is on the origins and evolution of cosmic magnetism, supernova remnants, the interstellar medium, massive star formation and astrophysical masers. Project Scientist for the Australian Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder (ASKAP). Has appeared in numerous television, radio, press publications, and public presentations to advance the general understanding of astrophysics. The Sydney Morning Herald included Dr. Harvey-Smith in its list of the Top One Hundred of Sydney's Most Influential People (2012). Chair of the steering committee of the Women in Astronomy Chapter of the Astronomical Society of Australia.
