Description

Commonly referred to as the 'father of the skyscraper' and the 'father of modernism', was part of the Chicago School of architects. Co-Founder of the architectural firm Adler Sullivan. Coined the phrase 'Form Follows Function'. Mentor of famed architect, Frank Lloyd Wright, before they had a falling out, after which Wright established his own practice. Richard Twombly, author of his biography 'Louis Sullivan : His Life and Work' (1999) details his homosexuality. Recipient of the AIA Gold Medal.
