Description

Professor of Old Testament studies in the Faculty of Theology at the University of Helsinki. Notable as an expert of the prophetic phenomenon in the ancient Eastern Mediterranean, and gender issues (love poetry, homoeroticism, masculinity) in the ancient Eastern Mediterranean. Member of the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton (2008–2009). Director of the Academy of Finland Centre of Excellence in Changes in Sacred Texts and Traditions (CSTT). Notable books include 'Homoeroticism in the Biblical World: A Historical Perspective' (2004). Member of the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters.
