Description

CEO, San Francisco AIDS Foundation since 2010. Served four terms as gay Republican mayor of Tempe, Arizona (1994-2004); when he came out as gay, opponents attempted to recall him but he returned to office in a landslide. Served four years as president of GLAAD (2005-2009). Author of a motivational memoir, 'The Campaign Within: A Mayor's Private Journey to Public Leadership' (2012).
