Film cinematographer, notably for the films 'Kramer vs. Kramer', 'The Blue Lagoon', 'Sophie's Choice', and 'Days of Heaven' (Academy Award, 1979). He is the most nominated Spanish person for Academy Awards. Produced a documentary on Cuba's persecution of gays, 'Mauvaise Conduit' (1984). Died of AIDS.
