Minister of Transportation in President Joe Biden's cabinet since 2020. Considered the first out LGBTQ Cabinet member in history. Faculty fellow at the Notre Dame University's Institute for Advanced Study (NDIAS) for 2020-2021. Former Mayor of South Bend, Indiana (2012-2020). Rhodes Scholar. Former management consultant. Served for seven months in Afghanistan as a lieutenant in the US Navy Reserves. Unsuccessfully ran for the Chair of the Democratic National Committee (2017). Ran unsuccessfully as a candidate for the Democratic Party in the 2020 Presidential campaign. Also known as Pete Buttigieg.
