Description

Two-spirited Native American (Cherokee, African, Irish, Lenape, Lumbee and Osage) Assistant Professor at Oregon State University, where they are director of graduate studies and the queer studies curriculum organizer in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Notable books include 'Walking With the Ghosts: Poems' (2005, nominated for Griffin Poetry Prize). Poetry 'confronts the legacy of land-theft, genocide, and forced removal of Cherokees from their homelands while simultaneously resisting ongoing attacks on both Indigenous and Gay/ Lesbian/ Bisexual /Transgender (GLBT) communities'. Formerly taught at Antioch University Seattle and Texas A&M University. Founder of Dragonfly Rising Press.
