Description

Former Democratic party member of the Vermont House of Representatives (1991-1993), being the first openly gay person to be elected to the House in the state. Worked for LGBTQ rights while in office. Served with the Democratic National Committee. Was re-elected in 1993 but died from AIDS before the session resumed. The Ron Squires Award was created in the state to honour voluntary services to the Democratic Party.
