Description

Author of lesbian novels set in a Victorian theme. Author of the Year at the 2003 British Book Awards, and elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature in 2009. Her latest novel is 'The Little Stranger' (2009), a ghost story - shortlisted for the 2009 Man Booker Prize for Fiction, and was serialised for television in 2011. Appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 2019.
