Description

Film director, notable for the films 'Ivan the Terrible' (1944, 1958) and 'Battleship Potemkin' (1925). Earlier worked in theatre production. In his later life, taught film creation and screenwriting in Russia. Though married twice, his diaries published after his death revealed his infatuations with young men.
