Foremost modernist literary figure of the twentieth century. Notable books include 'Mrs. Dalloway' (1925) and 'Orlando' (1928), both of which have been made into award-winning films. Member of the 'Bloomsbury Group' of prominent artists and writers of the time. Notable for several affairs with women, including the writer and gardener Vita Sackville-West. Committed suicide.
