Modernist poet, notable for 'Spring and All', and 'Paterson'. Known as a modernist poet. Mentor to Alan Ginsberg and other young poets. First winner of the National Book Award for Poetry (1950), and posthumously awarded a Pulitzer Prize in 1963 for 'Pictures From Brueghel and Other Poems'.
