Description
LGBTQ activist who, with her wife Ruth Berman, instigated the creation of the LGBT Elder Americans Act (2017). Sued the New York City Board of Education for domestic partner benefits, eventually winning such rights for all New York City municipal employees (1994). Co-chair of the Lesbian Rights Task Force of the New York State chapter of the National Organization for Women (NOW). Subject of an award-winning documentary entitled 'Ruthie and Connie: Every Room in the House' (2002). Received the SAGE (Services and Advocacy for GLBT Elders) Pioneer award for their services (2016). Also known as Constance Kurtz.
