Suffragette, pacifist, and trade unionist. With her partner, Louie Bennett, co-founded the Irish Women's Suffrage Federation and the Irish Women Workers' Union. Wwice served as acting Lord Mayor of Dublin (1942, 1950). President of the Irish Trades Union Congress (1951) and Secretary of the Women Workers' Union.
