The Lambda Literary Foundation gives out a series of Lambda Literary Awards to the best lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender books of the year. The nominees for 2013 were recently released.
There are 24 categories of awards ranging from Children'/Young Adult Fiction, to Lesbian Poetry, to Transgender Non-Fiction. In addition, there are four special awards for outstanding contributions.
Many of the international authors and poets have identified as LGBTQ. They either have a rich history of writing in the area, or are first-time publishers.
