Description

Mathematician who laid the foundations for computer science. Notable as a code-breaker for the Allies during World War II. Arrested for gross indecency when his house was burgled by a former lover and the relationship became public. Committed suicide after a series of 'medical cures'. A movie of his life, 'The Imitation Game', a biopic about Turing which stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightley, was released in 2014. Received a Royal Pardon in 2013.
