Description

Poet and performance artist. Notable for creating text-based poetry and recorded poetry distorted by synthesizers, and other forms of performance poetry, much of which reflects queer sexuality. Founded the not-for-profit production company Giorno Poetry Systems, and the AIDS charity, the AIDS Treatment Project (1984). Subject of Andy Warhol's film 'Sleep' (1963).
