Description

Couturier and dandy, known for his lavish parties. Born Neil Munro Roger. Established his dressmaker, Neil Roger, in 1937, and invented capri pants. Established his dressmaking business in London in 1937. He later ran the couture department at Fortnum & Mason and worked at Hardy Amies. Noted for his 'neo-Edwardian' personal style, which incorporated double-breasted jackets with generous shoulders and tapered waists, high-cut trousers and bowler hats. A colourful personality, Roger was known for his lavish and outrageous parties, including his New Year's Eve 'Flash' party in 1952.
