Description
Classical music and opera composer, his music reflects lightness and naivety. Had a life-long musical partnership with Pierre Bernac. His compositions spanned from intimate chamber sonatas with sublime, twisting melodies and delicate impressionist harmonies (think the 1957 Flute Sonata), to his Piano Concerto and epic one-act opera for soprano and orchestra, La voix humaine. He is known for having multiple sexual partners for which he was forthcoming to his circle of friends, which included Jean Cocteau, Baron Benjamin Britten, and Max Jacob.
