Description
Baroque painter known simply as Caravaggio. Notable for his naturalist paintings, including the lighting of the principal subjects of his paintings and the darker surroundings. Significant works include 'the Martyrdom of Saint Matthew' and 'Calling of Saint Matthew' (1600). Was exiled after he killed in a duel, and subsequently died under mysterious circumstances.
