Premier of the Province of Prince Edward Island, Canada (2015-2019), and Liberal Party member of the PEI Provincial Parliament. President of the University of Prince Edward Island (1999 - 2011). Formerly dean of the law school of the University of New Brunswick and a law professor at Dalhousie University. Appointed a Member of the Order of Canada (2008) and the Order of Prince Edward Island (2014). Partner is theatre director Duncan McIntosh.
