Description
Broadway stage and television actor. Appeared in the Broadway show 'Hadestown' for which he received the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical (2019), and the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theatre Album (2020). Is notable for featuring in the original Broadway productions of The Full Monty (Tony Award Nomination), Play On! (Tony Award nomination), and the titular role in The Wiz. Noted for his cabaret appearances. Appears in the television shows 'Ain't Misbehavin' (Emmy Award, 1982) and 'Uncoupled' (2022). Received the 2021 Broadwayworld Cabaret Award for Best Show, 'Celebrity' and the 2022 NYU Distinguished Alumni Award on April 1m(2022). Former theatre choreographer. HIV positive.
