Description

Collector of homoerotic art and proprietor, Leslie Lohman Gallery (to 1983). Co-founder (with Fritz Lohman) of the Leslie/Lohman Gay Art Foundation Inc. (1987), a non-profit corporation created to preserve the works of LGBTQ artists. In 2011, it was attributed full museum status and renamed the Leslie+Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art, making it the first gay art museum in the world. Former 'unofficial' leader of the Soho Artists Alliance created to protect the artistic nature of the Soho neighbourhood of New York City.
