Illustrator of books and fashion magazines in the art nouveau and art deco styles. Partner was fellow artist Lili Elbe. Rose to fame as a painter using Lili dressed as a femme fatale. The couple are the subject of the film 'The Danish Girl' (2015). As an activist, fought for her right to marry Lili. Birth name was Gerda Gotlieb.
