Description

Grandson of Ferdinando, he was the last ruler of the Medici dynasty as Grand Duke. Known for lessening the control of popular morality and relaxed literary censorship, while his political appointments were directed towards reducing church influence in his state. Gave an annuity to each of his lovers, which numbered 350 on his death. Also known as Gian Gastone.
