Description
Playwright and lyricist. Notable theatre work includes 'Little Shop of Horrors'. Also worked on the Disney films 'The Little Mermaid', 'Alladin' (1992, two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards), and 'Beauty and the Beast' (1991, Academy Awards). The latter two were issued posthumously, and were dedicated to him. Named a Disney Legend in 2001. Subject of the documentary 'Howard' (2020). Died of AIDS.
